Imerys RCC fulfills its commitment with the region where it operates by performing its activities in a responsible manner and with great concern with the environment and the neighboring communities.
Today, the Company has eight social projects / programs, directly addressing more than two thousand people around its Plant facilities, in Barcarena, and the Mine Site, in Ipixuna.
In addition, the Company has several environmental projects. One of such projects includes the tailing ponds. These are built in compliance with the most advanced techniques, which include impermeable high-density polyethylene (HDPE) coating; the drainage system under constant improvement, which assures protection of surface water systems; the development of tube-press filter technology; and the introduction of the lump form of kaolin, which allows for great reduction in energy consumption, in addition to the recuperation of degraded areas, as agreed upon with the authorities.
