Kaolin is one of the six most abundant minerals on the Earth’s crust. It has a broad geographic distribution and can be found in various continents. Imerys Pigments for Paper is unique, in that it mines and processes kaolin in each of the major paper-grade kaolin regions of the world; Brazil, Georgia (USA), Cornwall (UK) and Australia.
In Brazil, the Amazon region has the sedimentary type of deposits with this mineral in its purest state, differently from the center-south of the country, where primary kaolin is predominant.
