kaolin in everyday life
Kaolin is essential and discrete. A New York attorney, a German dentist or a Brazilian housewife use this mineral in their everyday activities, but do not realise it.
Kaolin is used in the making of pottery, china, cosmetics, hygiene materials, catalyst filters for pollution control, plastics, rubber materials, amongst other products. Moreover, this mineral helps provides the gloss of coated papers or is used as a ‘filler’ in place of fibre, to make the finished paper ‘whiter’ and more opaque (black-out), to facilitate printing.
At Imerys RCC, virtually all of the kaolin produced is supplied to the global paper industry due to the whiteness and excellent quality of the mineral lifted from the Company’s mine in the city of Ipixuna, northeastern Pará State.
